My partner made a step ladder shop display recently to display her tie-dye shoes at markets and festivals and it has been a total success.

She found an old beauty of a ladder at an opp shop, refurbished it a bit, bought a few pieces of plywood cut to shape ( for shelves ) and voila ! A beautiful, unique and excellent  shop display.

Unfortunately my iphoto is playing up so I will post an image in the next post.

In the meantime we'll make do with these other examples of step ladder shop displays which are pretty good.

This one is from Anthropologie in Berkeley found at this blog

The other image of interest comes from Marie Claire Idees via this other very nice blog

ladder shop display

In summary , in my view, the right ladder , suitably refurbished, makes a great shop display, creates a great impression and it costs peanuts, a win-win.

For other  shop display ideas you can check this link.

Ok, that's all for now, I owe you that photo of my partner's ladder which certainly has a lot more history and personality than the above ones.

Bye for now !

In contrast to my previous post, please check this cute shop from Sao Paolo.

They assign-rent a cube to each artist-entrepreneur , making up an eclectic and varied mix of products and a fascinating visual experience of discovery for the customer.

The shop display in general is limited by this modus operandi and at the same time it defines it.

In a bit of good ol' rough capitalism , artists that don't perform lose their cubicle to new incoming artists, this ensures
a constant renewal and flow of new ideas that keep the regulars coming back for more.

Wow !!!

Window display ideas are hard to come by to most earthlings , so ,

who designed this window display ?

I need to know more !

What was she/he  on ?

I want some of that !

You think this is  just plain good old boundless imagination ?

Either way  shop window displays like this one are in a realm of their own !

11 out of 10 for the vision ,

execution wise, i think the lighting is poor and the mannequins look average when contrasted with this surreal picture.

new collection oversize merchandise

You'd think that  all Tie shop displays look the same but hey, they still look great !

Also, as you know, it's kind of one of my fave mantras, Let the products do the talking !

Keep it simple , clean and  visually striking , unless you have a very good reason not to.

A lot of products lend themselves to this type of shop display and merchandising, as long as their

packaging or the product itself has some minimal aesthetic value.

Enjoy !

You and I have seen this simple trick plenty of times in fabric shops window displays.

A window shop display made of  just 3 element : a mannequin, couple of cushions and a roll of fabric.

A window display that is super economical in time and cost , catches the eye and is elegant and creative.

I guess it's easy to overdo and complicate window displays, sometimes less is more,

a good reminder…

This image shows one of my favourite examples of good, sound merchandising : let the product do the talking ! Some products with sensible colourful packaging lend themselves perfectly for this kind of "supermarket-type shop display". I love this kind of shop display or visual merchandising because it's simple, very economical, does not take much effort, you're actually showing the product in it's full splendour and mostly just because it looks great.

chocolate visual merchandising and shop display

Found this image wihtout much explanation about it at a New York based shop displays and visual merchandising outfit.

This shelving structure was designed by Dror for Target back in June as a limited edition.

Priced at just $89 , they not only look great but could be used as shop display fitting.

Interactive shop display kiosk

Another article on the interactive display kiosk envisioned by intel.

Source : New York Times .

Shop display kiosk of the future : Intel's vision

Shop display kiosk of the future : Intel's vision

SALES clerks still ask customers, “May I help you?” on the floors of many department stores, but some shoppers may soon choose to be served instead by a computer kiosk with clever software.

The new kiosks aren’t the stodgy kind that have long dispensed boarding passes, train tickets and family snapshots. Instead, they have sleek lines and large touch screens — as well as software that, depending on the application, can recognize customers, know what they’ve bought in the past, point out bargains and even let them try out virtual clothing, hair colors and cosmetics onscreen.

Many of these kiosks will serve as automated checkout counters, but will offer much more personalized information than those now in use. Others, like those for cosmetics departments, will let customers create the looks they want.

Intel has built three prototypes of kiosks that may find a place on the floors of department stores. But customers who walk up to them won’t see the usual sales counter with its bar-code reader, cash drawer and credit-card pad — and they won’t necessarily see a sales associate.

Instead, they will find a tall screen at eye level and another screen embedded in the counter. When they flash a card — perhaps one similar to those now offered by many drugstores and grocery chains — the kiosk recognizes them. “Greetings, Mr. Smith,” it might say, before presenting the latest specials and promotions for products, including ones that might go well with what Mr. Smith is already buying.

(Some kiosks may also have an additional screen for sales associates to assist customers.)

Scan in a blazer by passing its price tag across a screen, and it may then recommend several styles of pants and shirts to go with it, along with prices and possible discounts.

The kiosks can give customers a depth of detail — whether product specifications or customer reviews — comparable to what they can find in shopping on the Internet, said Joe Jensen, general manager of the embedded-computing division of Intel in Chandler, Ariz.

I love the massive white shop counter  with it’s “floating” sensation.

The wall fittings, circular and unobtrusive,  use clear tubes displays that are sleek and classy,

the whole focus is the product.
